So start out with this month's files, for example. Then save every new file according to that folder structure. Consider archiving all old files by moving them into an "Old Files" or "Archive" folder. When you have time, you can go through this "Archive" folder and store files using the same folder structure you've already started using for new files.

I'm having the same problem, but the steps above didn't fix it. Here's my view, but I need the file tree to show as it usually does on the left. Thank you! Ali Kayn. I am using windows 10 and trying to move files and folders, but the folder pane is not showing the entire tree, whether I use collapse or expand. The loss of side-by side trees was a major drop in functionality, this takes the usability of file explorer down dramatically. We need to see ALL individual files listed under each folder in ONE pane only -- at a glance like a classic file tree.
